“Fashion versus Style” by Amanda Neal
Fashion is what you are shown four times a year by designers and Style Style is how you FEEL. Style is how you move. Style is how you show up and show yourself to the world. Fashion is for consumption. But, style? Style is for creation. With style, you can create a moment, a mood, and memory.
My first understanding of fashion, comes from my living room at maybe 10 or 12 years-old. The HLN channel (now CNN) used to have a Saturday segment, featuring all the fashion shows from around the world. It was the best 10 minutes of my Saturday! I would watch those runways come to life with sauntering grace and ranging colors. Everything was perfection to me. The accessories, the makeup, the color combinations, it was all a flow. And I consumed every drop. Every color, every neckline, every hem; I consumed every story presented to me. The voice each designer wanted to be heard. I consumed it all.
Using fashion to express how you feel, is style. I watched my mother for hours, shopping through how she felt And how each piece she picked up, made her feel emotionally. Happiness is a cowl neck blouse with a midi skirt and only a statement earring as not to draw away from the neckline. Sexy, is a sheer camisole, under a blazer that no one knows is there, but you. Style, can also be used to give you confidence. It can change your mood with various pallets of color; marrying families that will never be close in the Crayola box. Ever changing, ever growing just like us as people, style grows and changes without notice. At the end of the day, fashion is what’s given, but style will always be what you choose. -Amanda Neal

Go with the flow…
I feel like I’m finally getting into a groove with how my life is moving. It feels like it’s at a nice smooth pace. I don’t feel like I’m being rushed and my anxiety levels are down. I’m not answering the phone to people I don’t want to talk to. I don’t engage in frivolous conversation. I mind my business and it’s just really working out for me. That is what life should feel like, you know? There’s a ease to life that is truly rewarding when you finally find it. And when you find it, don’t let go. Ride the wave and let it take you to places you’ve never been. Don’t be afraid when things start moving too fast. Embrace it. Cherish it. Relish in it. And know that there are more experience like that to follow. I hope that you’re having a fantastic day today. No matter the situation that you’re in, count it all joy! Fall in love with who you are as a person. Know your strengths and weaknesses and be ok with that. Know that you are enough. Don’t worry about the opinions of others. Lead with love and know that it’s only for a season. The good and the bad.
I thank God for where I am today. My mind is known to play a trick or two on me, but I’ve leaned to not even acknowledge all of my thoughts. What that means is that you have to do a good job at having the mental awareness to know that the things that you think about on a daily basis, isn’t even real. It’s in your mind, first, and then you and your body carry out the mission that you agree to in your own mind. I monitor my thoughts. All of them. The ones I like, the ones that make me feel good and happy, those are the ones that I think about the most. And I don’t get it right all of the time, but I work on it every single day. And I do my best to not believe the thought s that bring me negative emotions. A lot of this work is done in the mornings during my meditations. And then I practice it throughout the course of my day because it’s easier to do it when you’re just waking up and your day hasn’t truly started yet. Trust me, it takes tons of practice and lots of patience because you’re human at the end of the day. You are prone to make mistakes. But you do have control over your thoughts and which ones you chose to think about more often. That thought then becomes a belief and before you know it, you’re living in that current state of thought. So, I say all of that to say that your thoughts truly become things and it is better to have the wisdom not to invest time and mental space on things that are negative. The thoughts that make you feel sad, or upset, or resentment or fright, or procrastination and even more.
My prayer today is for your mind to be renewed. For you to be brave enough to chose happiness first. I pray that you are able to carry out whatever concept or idea that has come to your mind. I pray for peace in your mind today. I peace above all understand. I pray for confidence for those who lack it. I pray for love for those who need it. I pray that you do not invest much time Toni negative thoughts. I pray for the negative people in your life to leave, smoothly and with grace and dignity. I pray that you keep your head up and keep believing in yourself. I pray that you continue to always see the very best in your. I pray for your health today and every day. I pray that you make the right choices for your body to be stirs very best. I pray that you make it to where God is ending you. I pray that the destination will bring you and your family much joy. I pray for anyone who is feeling oppressed and left out and shut out. I pray that you continue to preserve through it all and that There’s nobody else to bless but God in the end for your victory.
